Even with the wonderful outcome with the Class Scribe, Arohia, the class fell down when it came to homework due to the very few who handed it in. I have been thinking about such a blog for a long time, but, with so much to do… Anyway, no good putting it off any longer! To begin with the Year 9 Class will be investigating fractions and percentages – and the conversion of one to the other. The context within which they will apply these kinds of number will be the operations of the M ā ori Land Court. Thereupon they will also learn much about M ā ori land processes and the nomenclature practised by our ancestors since the arrival of the P ā keh ā . Not forgetting the school’s other language – the students will also be learning the vocabulary and phrases used with this branch of the Mathematical world.
