Te Huhuti       Te Huhuti Ngati Kahungunu, Ngati Whatu-mamoa, Maru-iwi (principal wife of Te Whatuiapiti)           Te Huhuti's grandfather Taraia was one the leaders of the Ngati Kahungunu incursion into the Ahuriri and Heretaunga region (now the Napier/Hastings region of Hawke's Bay). The Whatumamoa and Maruiwi peoples were the tangata whenua or original inhabitants of the region.
