p.2 The size of the newspaper
Editorial presentation of a letter from Rīwai Te Ahu responding to comments by Te Hoa Aroha regarding the size of the newspaper [Vol. 1, No. 44:2].
The Editor responds that the newspaper could never be the size of a Pakeha newspaper because it lacks funds to support it, writers capable of communicating and writing in the Maori language, and the means and ability to report more news.
pp.2-3 Letter to Te Karere o Poneke
From Rīwai Te Ahu, Waikanae
Addressed to Te Hoa Aroha, Ngāmotu, responding to erroneous comments by Te Hoa Aroha regarding the size of the newspaper [Vol. 1, No. 44:2].
Quotes and debates comments made by both Te Hoa Aroha and the Editor in past issues. Compares the value of the newspaper to copper rather than gold because it prints parables such as `The Kokako and the Huia' from Te Hūtana. Asks why the newspaper does not publish all correspondence in the next available issue.
