Concerns the need to improve the status of Maori as a people by providing the right environment for children. Promotes the European model of marriage, sealed by God.

pp.2-3 Speeches from an assembly at Pākanae
From Te Rore [WMMS missionary, Henry Lawry?] of Waimā
Reports a gathering of Maori from Wahapū and Hokianga to hand over money collected for the work of local ministers.
Includes speeches supporting Christianity by those present and cites letters read out to the gathering.
Includes two whakataukī [proverbs].
pp.3-4 A discussion about the times before the writing of the Scriptures
Concerns the oral and written transmission of God's messages to humankind since the time of Adam and the first writings of the Scriptures. References to Noah's messages to China, and to Egyptians having forgotten God's words.
Three things that are desired
Story about several people who were asked to name three things that they wanted for themselves. While some gave answers like books, money, health, food, and alcohol, only one person had an answer deemed suitable, living in, like and with Christ.
