[Editorial]
Satirical comment concerning the land `Ring' in which the Editor states that one of the most common misrepresentations in the `Ring' dispute is that the charges against the members are levelled at all the European people in Hawke's Bay. States that Sheehan has clearly demonstrated during his speeches in Parliament that not more than thirty or forty people are involved; also talks of the irreparable damage done to the character of the European people living in Hawke's Bay, noting that it was their lot to stand by and watch the various vile acts against Maori people happen.

Judgement of Karaitiana Takamoana v. Sutton
Concerns the Appeal Court judgement on the Crown Grant awarded to Karaitiana and others and contains details of the actual land transaction and the repudiation of the land sale in favour of Karaitiana. Some of the evidence concerns the land transaction referred to in Sheehan's speech [Pp. 432-434] between Sutton, McLean and Ormond. States that the Appeal Court judge uses several British Court precedents to reach his decision for reducing Sutton and McLean's shares in the land, and the decision also takes into account the Native Land Act, 1869 which, consequently, renders Sutton's deed void.

The article contains details of the case itself and each of the judgements passed down by the Appeal Court.
